The retail giant announced the opening of a “College Sports” store at the Cleveland Cavaliers arena for the 2016-17 season.
The company has not yet announced a price, but the store will open in the building that houses the Cavaliers’ arena, the team’s home for the past four seasons.
The store will include merchandise for the game, a “GameStop Sports Rewards” app and more.
The Cavaliers announced the store’s opening at their season-opening press conference on Thursday.
The team will hold its home opener on Saturday against the Brooklyn Nets.
Walmart Sports Games has been in the business of selling sports merchandise since 2012, and the store is part of a new deal with Amazon that lets the company sell some of its sports merchandise in stores.
WalMart Sports Games, which was founded by former NFL player Reggie White, has a strong presence in sports apparel, with its own line of men’s clothing, footwear, accessories and a clothing line.
The company’s sports teams include the New England Patriots, Washington Capitals, Miami Dolphins and Atlanta Braves.
Walton, an executive at the company, said the Cleveland store will be an important part of the team as they move into the 2017-18 season.
