The game-streaming service Twitch has launched Canada’s first all-girl basketball league, which it has dubbed the Girls Basketball League.
The league will be the first to be held in Canada since the women’s basketball team was disbanded in the late 1990s, and will be broadcast live on the platform.
The league is being launched with $500,000 of funding from the Canadian Sports Foundation.
The foundation also donated $10,000 to the league.
The women’s team was one of the most popular teams in Canada’s junior basketball league until it was disbanded due to injuries and poor coaching.
It is currently ranked No. 1 in the womens league standings.
The Canadian Sports Federation (CFSF) said in a statement on its website that the league will serve as a platform for women’s hockey, womenve-legislated sports and youth sports. The girls basketball team will also be the host of a training camp for future athletes.
The CFSF said the league is one of only a few in North America that feature both male and female teams.
The team will have its debut game on April 4 against a team from a Canadian team in the United States.
